State Senator Proos Calls for AG to Investigate Gas Prices Spike

A state Senator is calling for the Michigan attorney general to investigate a recent spike in gas prices.

Mechanical issues at the BP Whiting, Indiana refinery are being blamed for an 80 cent jump in gas prices in parts of Michigan.

State Senator John Proos wants the state attorney general to investigate whether it’s appropriate for consumers to bear the brunt of costs resulting from refinery problems.

He also wants to know why there isn’t enough supply to offset any potential refinery glitches.

Proos says when auto manufacturers make a mistake, they pay for its correction and he questions why that’s not the case in the fuel industry.
