Sunday Truck Fire Victims Officially Identified

The two victims of Sunday’s truck fire have officially been identified. The Houghton County Medical Examiner confirmed this afternoon that the bodies pulled from the vehicle near Bear Creek on the Donken-Tapiola Road were those of 19-year-old Joshua Michael Becia of Portage Township, and 19-year-old Jay Henry Stevens of Painesdale. Notices for both men had been received from the O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home (Becia) and the Memorial Chapel and Plowe Funeral Homes (Stevens) earlier in the day, and are posted at KeweenawReport.com.

There is no word yet as to the official cause of death, or how the vehicle caught fire. The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department continues its investigation.
