Suspect Charged In Hancock Church Break-Ins

One person is in custody as an investigation continues into a series of break-ins at three churches in the city of Hancock.

20-year-old Michael Cote, who is listed as homeless by the 97th District Court in Houghton, is charged with two counts of Breaking and Entering with Intent–both 10 year felonies–and Malicious Destruction of Property, a five year felony.

Police say Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, and Zion Lutheran Church were broken into over the last couple of weeks.

Bond for Cote was set at $25,000 cash.

He will be back in court for a preliminary exam in two weeks.

Hancock Police ask that anyone having additional information about the church break-ins to call them at (906) 482-3102.
