Toro Purchases BOSS Products

Iron Mountain-based BOSS Products is being sold to the Toro Company for $227 million. BOSS designs, manufactures and sells snowplows, salt and sand spreaders, and related parts and accessories, for light and medium duty trucks, ATVs, UTVs and loaders. BOSS sales in 2014 are anticipated to be approximately $125 million. Officials with Toro, based in Bloomington, Minnesota say it will remain “business as usual” at BOSS and the deal will have no impact on the snowplow company’s 340 employees. Toro says the plows will continue to bear the BOSS name, because they recognize the importance of keeping the prestigious branding. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and currently is expected to close within the next 90 days.
