Two Suspected Meth Labs Found In Escanaba

Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) responded to two (2) suspected meth labs in the City of Escanaba.

On May 28th at approximately 9:30 A.M. detectives from UPSET responded to the Escanaba City Landfill site when components related to the manufacturing of meth were located in a recycling container.

On May 29th at approximately 1:00 A.M. detectives from UPSET responded to assist officers from the City of Escanaba when components related to the manufacturing of meth were located at a residence located at 310 S. 12th Street in the City of Escanaba.

No arrests have been made at this time.

UPSET encourages the public to use caution when locating components related to meth.  Often these components are filled with hazardous materials and should only be handled by certified hazmat responder’s wearing protective equipment.

Since January 1st, 2015 UPSET has responded to 55 meth labs across the Upper Peninsula.  This is a 50% increase from last year at this time.
