Unemployment Down Again

Michigan’s unemployment rate in March declined for the seventh consecutive month to 7.5 percent. That’s down by two-tenths of a percentage point from February and is the lowest jobless rate in Michigan since April 2008. According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, total employment rose by 19,000 in March while the number of unemployed decreased by 8,000. The state’s labor force grew by 11,000 over the month. Spokesman Jason Palmer says the state’s jobless rate is beginning to approach the 2007 pre-recession level of 7.1 percent.
