University Graduations Planned

Most college graduates in the region will collect their diplomas this weekend.

Michigan Tech grads will get their sheepskins at 10:30 tomorrow morning at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. The address will be delivered by retired astronaut and Air Force combat pilot Colonel Gregory Johnson. Northern Michigan University’s commencement is scheduled for 10:30 tomorrow morning at the Superior Dome. U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow will speak. Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College graduates will receive their diplomas at noon tomorrow at the Niween Akeaa Center in Baraga. Finlandia University graduates will claim their diplomas Sunday, with a baccalaureate service at 10:00 at the Chapel of Saint Matthew, and commencement at 1:30 at the Paavo Nurmi Center. Bishop Katherine Finegan of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will be the commencement speaker.

Gogebic Community College’s commencement ceremony will be held a week from tonight.
