Carole Faye Kemppainen Miller

As received from the Memorial Chapel & Plowe Funeral Homes:

Carole Faye Kemppainen Miller died at the home she was born and raised in, on Quincy Hill in Hancock’s Newtown Location, on July 24, 2021. She was born on August 7, 1936.

Carole was the epitome of kindness. She personified sisu and never, ever complained. Everyone who knew her loved her for her sweet personality, delicious orange cupcakes and the wonderful Swedish Crème from Fitzgerald’s Restaurant in Eagle River that she whipped up for special occasions. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, listen to classical music and watch the Tigers. She loved giving hugs, and it was fun and easy to make her laugh.

Carole was on the basketball team at Hancock High School and was a cheerleader at Highland Park High School after she moved downstate. She married Edward Thomas Miller of Dodgeville and the couple moved to Detroit, then made their home in Royal Oak for many years. Carole worked for Royal Oak Schools and Beaumont Hospital and was a member of Good Shephard Lutheran Church. She made many visits back to her beloved Copper Country over the years and moved back permanently in 2019. Carole and Ed, who predeceased her, had four children and six grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
