John Steven Tulppo

John Steven Tulppo, age 71 of Sidnaw, MI passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, MI.

He was born January 23, 1946 in Stambaugh, MI son of Orville and May Tulppo. John grew up in Jackson, MI and graduated from Parkside High School in 1964; and later received a Master’s Degree from Christopher Newport University. He was a Senior Chief in the US Navy from May, 1974 to February 1976 during the Vietnam War. John worked as a programmer/manager for Nasa-Langley and Unisys for 30 years, retiring in 2006. He married the former Lynn Beauprey on September 28, 1968 in Sidnaw, MI. They resided in Virginia until moving to Sidnaw in 2014. His hobbies include computers and site seeing.

Survived are his wife Lynn of Sidnaw; daughters Amy (Swanson Hash) Dail of Calumet, Nicole Bellinghausen of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Joshua Tulppo, Alexander Tulppo, Madison Bellinghausen, Haley Bellinghausen; step father Robert Pequet of Jackson, MI; sisters, Sharon (Glenn Remington) Collins of Jackson, Sheila (Chris) DeMarco of Jackson; half-brother Greg Tulppo of Trout Creek; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death are his father Orville Tulppo; mother May Pequet; and brother James Tulppo.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 10th from 1-2:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home in L’Anse. The Baraga County Area Veterans will conduct military rites at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home under the direction of the American Legion Post 444. Rev. Steve Rhoades will officiate a memorial service following the military service. A luncheon and fellowship will follow in The Sharing Room at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring in the Sidnaw Cemetery.
