Obituary: Anita A. Juntunen

Anita A. Juntunen, 59, a resident of Houghton and formerly of Atlantic Mine, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Mission Pointe of Hancock following a battle with cancer.

    She was born on October 16, 1963, in Calumet, MI, the daughter of the late Norbert and Janet (Rheault) LaRoux.  Anita was raised in Lake Linden and attended the Lake Linden Schools. 

     Anita was a hard worker helping at her grandparent’s farm and at Northern Hardwoods before becoming a homemaker to raise her children.  She enjoyed painting, riding horses, hunting, hiking, snowshoeing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

     Preceding her in death were her father Norbert LaRoux, her mother and stepfather: Janet and Harold Antila, and her grandparents Mildred and Guy Rheault.

     Surviving are: Her children: Jason (Adria) Laplander of Hubbell & Jessica Perreault of Laurium; Her grandchildren: Sylas Puuri, Eliza Laplander, Elliana Laplander, Elora Laplander; Her great-granddaughter: Laylah Puuri; Her brothers & sister: Rodney (Laura) LaRoux of Traprock, Tammy (Tim) Nakkula of Hubbell, & Todd (Lori) LaRoux of Bootjack; As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     A funeral service for Anita will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Houghton with Rev. Kevin Bender to officiate.  Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery of Lake Linden.

     Friends may call on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 9:00 am until the time of services at S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Houghton.
