Obituary: Anne Lasio McEvoy

Columbia, Maryland–Lassie comes home.  Anne Lasio McEvoy, age 78, passed away from cancer complications on July 7, 2018 at Gilchrist Hospice near her home in Columbia, Maryland.

She was born in the Laurium Hospital on October 18, 1939.  A 1957 Calumet High School graduate, she always cherished her band membership.  She then earned a 1961 BA at Michigan State University, followed by Master’s degrees from MSU and from Baltimore’s John Hopkins University.

After two years of college teaching in Flint, she joined the faculty of Maryland’s Catonsville Community College in 1969 as a professor of English, where she taught until her retirement in 2000.

Anne was widowed at age 22, her other marriage ended in divorce.

She was predeceased by her father, John E. Lasio, her mother Ann (Anna) Stimac, and her brother John.

She leaves to mourn her longtime partner Robert Brennan, as well as a host of loving cousins and friends.  Her life was fulfilled by the lover of her friends, literature, music, film, world travel and birding.

After a celebration of her life to held in Columbia, Anne will come home to her beloved Keweenaw.  The date of her Calumet funeral and burial will be published in the coming weeks.

Anne’s charities were the Calumet Theatre and Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly.
