Obituary: David Harma

UPDATE: A graveside service will take place at 1:30 pm, Monday, June 5, 2023, in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.

David “Easy Money” Harma, 77, a former resident of Atlantic Mine, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the Canal View – Houghton County in Hancock where he had been a resident patient.
     He was born on July 6, 1945, in Atlantic Mine, MI, a son of the late John and Helen (Ranta) Harma.  
          Mr. Harma was a veteran having served with the United States Army.
          David was united in marriage to Paula and after a few years, the couple separated but remained friends.
          Mr. Harma was a member of the Atlantic Mine Apostolic Lutheran Church.
          Following the service, Dave worked for various factories and was a forklift operator.  He enjoyed wheeling & dealing with everything such as bicycles, vehicles, motorcycles or lawnmowers.  He helped cut grass for neighbors and for the church.  Was always willing to help others even picking up a hitchhiker.  Dave enjoyed visiting with a cup of coffee with family and friends, riding his motorcycle, and traveling to lower Michigan.  Jesus was very dear to him and was happy to pass love and knowledge to his children.
          Preceding him in death were: his parents, his brothers; Fred, Jerry and Jim; and his sister Delores Johnson.
          Surviving are:
          His children: Penny Harma
              Rodney (Grace) Harma
            His grandchildren: Rodney Jr., Matthew, Nathan and Albert.
            His great-grandchildren: Claiten and Vincent
            Several nieces, nephews and cousins
      A funeral service for David will be held 11:00 am Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service Mt. View Chapel of South Range with Pastor David Coponen to officiate.  Spring burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.
      Friends may call on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 10 am until time of services at the funeral home.
      David’s family would like to thank his Guardian Barb Mattila and the staff at Canal View — Houghton County for caring and taking care of him.
