Obituary: David Matthew Pomroy

David Matthew Pomroy, 72, of Tamarack City, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, on his birthday, December 21, 2019.

                He was born on December 21, 1947, a son of Matthew and Louise (Fountaine) Pomroy.  He was a graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1966.

                He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1966 until 1969.  He worked at the White Pine Copper Mine from 1970, until it closed in 1989.  He also worked at Frank’s True Value in Hancock, until his retirement, 10 years ago.

                David was married to Mary Beth Paulson on July 15, 1972 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden.

                He was a member of Saint Joseph Church and the Choir.  He liked playing the guitar and singing in local bands.  He enjoyed building his kit car, the Bradley GT; and he won many trophies for his car.  His hobbies included stamp and coin collecting, and oil painting.  He enjoyed going for side by side trail rides with family and friends.

                He was preceded in death by his parents.

                He is survived by: his wife-Mary of Tamarack City; sisters-Linda MacDonald and Elizabeth (Ron) Parker both of Lake Linden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

David would like to be remembered as you last saw him.  There will be no visitation.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 27, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate.  Spring burial is planned for the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.  The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in Charge of arrangements.
