Obituary: Diane Gertcher

Dollar Bay

Diane Gertcher, 79, a resident of Dollar Bay, passed away Tuesday December 4, 2018, at the UP – Health Marquette Hospital shortly after being admitted.

She was born on May 19, 1939, in Laurium, MI, a daughter of the late Leslie and Martha (Heikkala) Oksanen. Diane was raised in Laurium and Berkley, MI where she graduated from the Berkley High School with the class of 1957.

On March 22, 1958, she was united in marriage to Robert Gertcher. The couple resided in Berkley, MI, until moving in 1978, to make their home in Dollar Bay. On July 17, 2015, Robert preceded Diane in death.

Diane had worked in the food service department at McNair Hall at Michigan Technological University for over 20 years. Retiring due to health reasons. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, reading, working cross word puzzles and all dogs.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert, her sister, Elna, her brother Roy along with her parents.

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

Funeral services for Diane will be held 1:00 pm Monday December 10, 2018, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. DJ Rasner to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Calumet.

Friends may call on Monday December 10, 2018 from 11:00 am until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.
