Elenore Hopf, 80, of Hubbell passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at U.P. Health System in Marquette.
She was born Elenore Ann Brommer on February 19, 1943, the second of three children, daughter of Elmer Brommer and Amelia (Thompson) Brommer, in Modena, Wisconsin. She grew up in Modena and graduated from Mondovi High School in the class of 1961. After that she attended Buffalo County Teachers College, in Alma, WI, and taught for a year at Elk Mound School in Elk Mound, WI.
She married Marvin Hopf on August 10, 1963, in Modena, WI.
Elenore and Marvin moved to Lake Linden, Michigan, in the summer of 1964 because Marvin was hired at Lake Linden-Hubbell School to teach, he taught sixth grade and Drivers Education, for 27 years. Elenore herself taught at Lake Linden for two years then stopped to be a housewife and raise the children.
Elenore was known to be a kind person by her friends and family, and always had kind words to everyone. Elenore was a member of the Hancock Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and would often share her faith with others.
Elenore was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, a sister Marion (Brommer) Fernholz, and various other relatives, uncles, aunts, cousins, and in-laws.
Elenore is survived by her children, her sons Tim (Jayne) Hopf of Augusta, ME, Tom Hopf of Phoenix, AZ, and Terence “Terry” Hopf of Wixom, MI, her daughters Tammy Hopf of Tempe, AZ, and Tracy (Mhmoud) Hopf of Wixom, MI, and her sister Maxine (Brommer) Olson (John) of Mondovi, WI. She is also survived by her five grandchildren Elizabeth Hopf (Phil) of Calumet, MI, Martin Hopf of Negaunee, MI, Benjamin Stricker, Tara (Kallio) Dawes (John) of Sterling Hts., MI, and Kristin Kallio (Mac) of Hartland, MI, her 8 great-grand children, and various other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Maple Hill Cemetery in Lake Linden, Michigan.
The family would like to thank Mission Point Nursing Home and their staff for their care of Elenore as well as the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home for assisting us with the arrangements.
