Obituary: Fern A. Sprietzer

Fern A. (Salo) Sprietzer, 88, a resident of Our Lady of Mercy passed away on Friday morning April 19, 2024.

She was born on June 24, 1935 in Detroit a daughter of the late Ownie and Aileen (Aho) Mackey.

On October 1, 1960 she was united in marriage to Paul Salo and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1997. She was later married to Robert Sprietzer on February 28, 2003 and he preceded her in death on February 28, 2010.

Fern was a Registered Nurse and was employed at Detroit Dept. of Health, St. Joseph Home Care in Park Rapids, MN, Calumet Public Hospital, Portage Hospital and Baraga County Memorial Hospital. She retired in 2003 from Portage Health System. She also worked the family business with her first husband Paul; Salo Manufacturing in Menahga, Minn. from 1985 to 1991. In 1991 they moved to Chassell & in 1996 she operated Home Accents in Chassell. In her marriage to Robert Sprietzer they enjoyed the winters they spent in Arizona.

 Also preceding in death was her Brother Stanley.

She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Dollar Bay and the Traprock Valley Quilters

Survivng are John (Victoria) Salo of Maine

David (Jennifer) Salo of Chassell

Grandchildren: Zachary, Truman (Eden), Ean, Owen, Erick (Lauren) and Eli Salo

Great Grandchildren: Calvin, Aria, Aiden, Ava

Special Niece Aileen, Special Cousin Barbara

Special Step son and Step Daughter Rodney and Lynn Fiedor and their boys Justin and Joshua.

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 26, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at the Bethany Baptist Church in Dollar Bay with Pastor Brian Knight to officiate.

Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon.

Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Fern’s honor to the Gitche Gumee Bible Camp, 5189 Garden City Road Eagle River, MI 49950.
