Obituary: Francis Beiring

As received from the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home:

Francis Joseph Beiring passed away at his home in Cedar Bay, Michigan on Monday January 3, 2022.

He was born on April 23, 1950 in Hancock, MI to Ed and Irene Beiring. Fran was raised in both Hancock and Chassell, Michigan.

In 1968, Fran enlisted in the US Army and happily served his country.

In September of 1971, Fran married Kathy Spehar of Calumet. They resided in Calumet and raised four children.

Fran worked at Calumet Electronics in the early ‘70s. The friendships he made there, he always prized. Later, Fran worked as a substance abuse counselor at the WUPHD. He finished his working career as a clerk at the Houghton Post Office.

He was a committed worker and always gave 110%. He could do anything he put his mind to.

Fran was a kind and loving man who enjoyed the simplest pleasures in life. He loved picking agates and swimming in Lake Superior. He found beauty in the Copper Country, regardless of season or weather.

Fran was a dedicated family man. One of his biggest joys in life were his 12 grand children and two great-grandchildren. He welcomed the action and commotion that they brought to his home and enjoyed every second of it.

Fran was a sports fan and not only supported his family members but many other youth in the community. If there was a game, he was there. He loved watching the kids play.

Francis is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Damon (Sara) Beiring of Calumet, daughters, Fawn (John) Treme of Honolulu, Kate (Patrick) Jeschke of San Antonio, and Trina (Laura Peterson) Beiring of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Maybelline, Edward (Abagehl), Lincoln, Helen, Chloe, Olivia, James, William, Matthew, Katherine, Scarlett, and Annemarie; great-grandchildren: Zaleigh and Theodore.

There will be a gathering of Fran’s family and friends at the Siskiwit, in Calumet, on Sunday January 9th from 2-6pm.
