Obituary: Gladys E. McCormack

Gladys E. McCormack, 99, a former resident of Dollar Bay passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Canal View – Houghton County where she had been a resident for the past eight years.

     She was born on February 4th 1925, to Victor and Anna (Backman) Norgard in Dollar Bay, MI.  Gladys graduated from Dollar Bay High School in 1942.  

     On June 11th 1952, she was united in marriage to Faber W. McCormack where they lived and raised their six children in Laurium. Faber passed away on May 16th 1985. 

    She was employed at the Western UP Health Department and Michigan Technological University.  In 1986, she retired and devoted her life to all of her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved and always called them her heartbeats.:  Tina (Will), Trevor (Teryn), Cole, Olivia, Channing, Vianna, Justin (Amanda), Mallory (Patrick), her son Clint’s fifteen children and a daughter-in-law, Londyn (Kendra), and Bronwyn (Dylan), along with 17 great-grand children.

She is survived by her children: Craig (Mary Kay) McCormack, Debra (Daniel) Hodges, Kevin (Alina) McCormack, Myles (Karen) McCormack, Clint McCormack (Bryan) , Darcy (Lindsay) Nettell

Her brother: Willis (Carolyn) Norgard; Mother of Justin and Mallory (Connie Koski); a special niece Karen (Don) MacDonald; a special nephew Peter Norgard; cousin Norma Inghram as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

     Preceding Gladys in death were her parents, husband Faber, and five brothers James, Robert, Charles, Norman and Allen.

     A funeral service for Gladys will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church of South Range with Rev. Bucky Beach to officiate.  Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Calumet.

     Friends may call on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 10:00 am until time of services at Grace Lutheran Church of South Range.
