Calumet

On February 27th John Richard Beaudette of Calumet, 91, passed away at Omega House in Houghton.

John was an amateur conspiracy theorist and avid political junkie. Like a lot of young Copper Country men, John left Houghton High early to enlist in the Army during WWII. Last assigned to the unit that supported General MacArthur’s C-54 aircraft, “Bataan II” in Japan, John returned to Houghton in 1946. While finishing his schooling he met his wife of 69 years, Luella Marie Buckman.

They were married on the 10th of May, 1951 at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Houghton. John was recalled for the Korean Conflict soon thereafter. Remaining in the Air Force, John had assignments from Lubbock, Texas to Sondrestrom Greenland and spent the next 20 years serving his country. Returning from Vietnam in 1968, he retired and worked as a civilian for the Navy, Air Force and Army until he retired to Calumet in 1986.

John was preceded in death by his Father, Archie Beaudette; his Mother, Florence Beaudette (Pappe) and his Daughter-in-Law, Cindy Beaudette (Marolf). He is survived by his wife, Luella Beaudette (Buckman); Sons, John Beaudette of Reno, NV; James Beaudette (Billie Jean) of Hot Springs, Virginia; Joseph Beaudette (Susan) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Daniel Beaudette of Calumet, Michigan.
