Obituary: Lawrence A. St. Peter

Lawrence A. St. Peter, 92, of Hubbell, passed away at Canal View in Hancock on May 2, 2024, after a long illness with dementia and leukemia.

Larry was born on March 28, 1932, a son of Louis and Margaret (Beilman) St. Peter.  He attended Saint Cecilia Catholic School in Hubbell.

He served in the he U.S. Army in Korea as a sergeant in the Signal Corp.  He worked for the Quincy Mining Company.  In 1957, he went to work for Uppco, and retired as a lead lineman in 1994.  He loved Hubbell and lived there his entire life, and in 1995, he started doing maintenance for Torch Lake Township.  He could be seen working on projects around the Hubbell community for many years.  He was also an inventor and had earned several U.S. Patents.

Larry was married to Betty Radeka at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hubbell on August 31, 1957.  She passed away on January 29, 2014.

He was a member of the Hubbell VFW Copper Ingot Post 4624 and Post 90 American Legion of Lake Linden.  He was a former member of the Hubbell Volunteer Fire Department. 

In his younger years, Larry enjoyed boxing and fishing.  He was very kind and caring, and had a compassionate heart.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife, and brothers-Urban and Ray.

He is survived by: 2 sons-L. Scott (Karen) St. Peter of Hubbell and Jeffrey (Carmen) St. Peter of Hubbell; 3 grandsons-Christopher (Jessica) Zablocki, Casey (Kayla) Zablocki, and Cyle Zablocki; 2 granddaughters-Kayla Makela and Breanna Makela, 3 great-granddaughters-Zoey, Zara, and Zola Zablocki; brother-Robert (Lynn) St. Peter of Dafter, MI; a sister-in-law-Mary Ann St. Peter of New Lennox, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Raju Jose to officiate. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
