Obituary: Leslie J. “Les” Webb

Leslie J. “Les” Webb, age 79, of Covington, MI passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at his home. Les was born in Yale, Michigan on July 10, 1940, the son of the late John and Neola (Mathews) Webb. Les graduated from Owendale High School. He married the former Viola Niemela in Marquette, Michigan on December 29, 1985. Les had been employed with the State Highway Department for 30 years, retiring on April 1, 1992. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Covington. Les enjoyed collecting model trains, working on tractors, he loved to travel but his passion was working on cars.

Les is survived by his loving wife, Viola of Covington, children Charles (JoEllen) Webb of Covington, Rebecca (Wayne) Murphy of Macon, Missouri, Jannet (Leonard) Mercer of Covington, Trudy (John) Truelove of Chesapeake, Virginia, Karen (Mike) Lambercht of Warren, Michigan and James (Shelly) Mercer of Lakewood, Colorado. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandsons and 3 uncles.

Funeral services for Les will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2019 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Covington with Pastor Richard Little officiating. The family will greet friends at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Immediately following the funeral service, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the church hall.

Spring interment will take place in the Covington Cemetery.
