Obituary: Marilyn Mae Sirard

Marilyn Mae Sirard, age 56 of Baraga, MI passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born October 2, 1961 in Oklahoma City, OK daughter of Jackie and Margie (Higginbothan) McCalister.  Marilyn married Gene Sirard on February 9, 1979 in Craig, CO where they resided prior to moving to Oklahoma City.  They moved to Baraga in 1989, and just as they were partners in life, they owned and operated Sirard’s Superior Hair Design for 10 years.  When they were ready for their next adventure they started King’s Transport Company.

Marilyn loved the outdoors, motorcycling, dancing, cooking, music, and walking her two dogs, Ranger and Yogi. She appreciated nature and life on the farm, but she was most grateful to have found a soulmate in Gene, her daughter, Melissa and grandson, Mason.  Marilyn will forever be remembered for her unwavering devotion to God and her infectious smile and laughter.

Surviving are her husband Gene Sirard of Baraga; daughter Melissa Mae Sirard of Rockford, IL; step son Cory (Lindsey) Zierden of Elk River, MN; grandchildren, Mason, Tanner, Sydney, Alix, and expecting granddaughter Paisley Marilyn Grace; mother, Margie McCalister of Cleveland, TN; brothers, Lonnie McCalister of Cleveland, TN, Curtis McCalister of Oklahoma City; mother-in-law and father-in-law Barbara and Aldrick Sirard of L’Anse; sister-in-law’s Lou (Steve) Sirard of Darnestown, MD, Gayle (Dave) Sirard of New York City, Allison (Dan) Casey of Arnold, MD; brother-in-law Mike (Joanne) Sirard of Duluth, MN
