UPDATE: A funeral mass for Mavis McKinstry will be held on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Calumet at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow in the church basement.
Mavis McKinstry passed away on Saturday, December 23rd, 2023 in Comfort Care at Aspirus Hospital in Calumet. She was born to Leo and Lucille (Quello) Wickstrom in Laurium on February 22nd, 1943. She married Paul McKinstry in 1963 at St. Mary’s Church in Calumet.
Mavis enjoyed being with family and friends. While working as a cashier at Fraki’s Supermarket, her pleasure was assisting customers. Mavis especially loved being with her family. She traveled with her daughter’s family on many vacation trips to Florida. She also traveled to Finland with her brother and his family for a family reunion. Mavis was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Calumet.
Mavis was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her daughter Lynn Mattila, her son-in-law Robert (Boomer) Mattila and son James McKinstry. She is survived by her grandson Jacob Mattila of Madison, WI, brother Marshall Wickstrom of Laurium, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet, is assisting the family with arrangements which will be announced at a later date.
