Obituary: Pamela M. Sowka

Hancock: Pamela M. Sowka, 74, formerly of Hancock, now residing in Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away in Brookfield, Wisconsin after a valiant fight following heart surgery.

She was born in Hancock on October 9, 1944 to the late John and Marie (Sommer) Sawyer. She completed High School in Cleveland, Ohio and returned to attend Suomi College in Hancock. She lived and worked most of her life in Hancock, being employed at various local businesses where she met many friends. After retirement, she made her home in Appleton, Wisconsin.

She enjoyed going to casinos, genealogy, and working cross-word puzzles. She loved animals and was an avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia. Family was inportant to her, especially her grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher, and her grandmother, Gertrude Sommer.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Joseph) Neher of Hancock; a son, Scott (Xine) Sowka of Oregon; 7 grandchildren: Zachariah, Jordan, and Gabriel Neher, Axel Cote, and Lucian, Natasha, and Obi Sowka; her life partner of 25 years, Paul Nichols; four sisters: Pixie, Doodie, Ursie, and Sarah; a brother, John, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and best friends, Terry and Robert (Perron) Arion.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home with Reverend Father William Ssozi to officiate. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Friends may call at the funeral home for an hour before the services on Saturday. A lunch will be served at the Church of the Resurrection following the cemetery services.
