Obituary: Patricia F. (Hahka) Wiitanen

Patricia F. (Hahka) Wiitanen from Lake Annie Rd, Hancock, passed away on May 20, 2023 at UPHS- Marquette, where she had been a patient for the last 10 days.

Pat was born on November 17, 1947, to John & Evelyn (Olson) Hahka at St. Joseph Hospital in Hancock. She graduated from Hancock High School in June 1965. After that, she went to school in Detroit to become a beautician.

On June 17, 1967, she married the love of her life, Wallace “Buddy” Wiitanen. She always mentioned that they had been together since she was 14.

Pat loved her family & Elvis. She enjoyed traveling, reading, her crafts and visiting. She could start a conversation with anyone, anywhere.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Buddy; her parents, John & Evie; baby sister, Cindy; & foster brother John Hanke.

She is survived by her children, Terry, Gene (Amanda), Brian, & Cheryl Wiitanen; grandsons Peyton & Mason; sister Pam (Mike) Matson; foster sister- in-law; Lu Hanke; special friends Glenn & Eeva Peroceschi; cats Sassy & Trouble (whom she named); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Pat’s wishes, there will be a small graveside service, Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 11 am for immediate family and friends at Lakeside Cemetery, with Pastor Chuck Bylkas officiating.
