Sandra Whelan, 70, a resident of Dextrom Road in Calumet passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening June 28, 2019 at UP Health System Portage In Hancock.
She was born in June 26, 1949 in Joliet, Illinois a daughter of the late Richard and Loretta (Fisk) Cooper.
She graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School in Brookfield, Illinois in 1967.
She was united in marriage to Stephen Whelan on June 4, 1973 on Brockway Mountain.
After their marriage they stayed and settled in the Copper Country. Locally Sandra worked at St. Joes Hospital In Hancock, Community Action, Vocational Strategies and the Daily Mining Gazette. In her retirement years she owned and ran a very successful online business, Tamarack Mineral Company selling and buying minerals all around the country and the world.
She was preceded in death by her sister Carol.
She is survived by her husband Stephen.
