Obituary: Stanley O. “Augie” Krolik

“Augie” Stanley O. Krolik, age 82 of Baraga, MI passed away at his home on Thursday, September 15, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was born in L’Anse, MI on August 7, 1940, the son of the late Otto and Cecile (LeRue) Krolik. Augie attended local schools. He was a member of Alston Apostolic Lutheran Church. Augie had been employed with the Department of Corrections, had worked in construction in Detroit and had been a logger for 8 years. He loved living and working the family farm, which has been owed by the Krolik family for over 100 years. Augie had just received the Pioneer Farmer Award at the Baraga County Fair 2022. He enjoyed hunting, including bow hunting, fishing, including ice fishing, gardening, farming and selling his corn, deer feed, cabbage, and sugar beets. Augie was a very self-sufficient homesteader.

Augie is survived by his son John Krolik of Arizona, daughters Kelly Krolik of Hawaii, Jennifer (Kelly) Takeda of Texas. and Lorie (Kevin) Maki of Pelkie, grandchildren Joel (Danielle) Maki, LeeAnn (Matt) Evans, Eric Maki, Michael Jolgren, Keny Jolgren, Alex Jolgren, Rylee Gunderson, Miah Gunderson, and Ethan Gunderson, great grandchildren Jaelynn Maki and Colton Maki, brothers Francis “Frenchy” Krolik of L’Anse and Sam (Julie) Wuornos of Pelkie, sisters Susan (Joe) Gavlinski of MI and Bette Wuornos of IL. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, baby sister Laverne and sister Kathleen.

The family is grateful to all of Augie’s friends that helped him over the years.

Per Augie’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
