Obituary: Stephen Walter Manderfield

Submitted by the family:

Stephen Walter Manderfield, 64 of Waynesville, MO passed away peacefully at his home on March 26, 2023 from cancer.

Stephen was born in Hancock on December 20, 1958 to the late John and Dorothy Manderfield, and was the third of seven children. Shortly after graduating from Hancock Central High School, with the class of 1977, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving for thirteen years.  Stephen served stateside, in Germany and in Korea.  After receiving an honorable discharge, he was employed as a government contract worker as a heavy equipment mechanic. Stephen was very proud of his son Erik. He was happily married to the former Judy Rendon for the past thirteen years.

He loved to tinker with motors and refurbished a favorite vintage truck and motorcycle. He never turned down good conversation over a good cup of coffee.  Stephen’s visits will be missed by many.

Surviving are his:

Wife: Judy Manderfield, son: Erik Manderfield, siblings: John Manderfield, Sarah Beth (Dan) Foco, Mark (Catherine) Manderfield, Mary Kay (Mark) Qualseth, Jane (his fav) Manderfield and Anne Brunet.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Growing up, Stephen was especially close to his cousins, the Sullivans.

According to his wishes, Stephen has been cremated and will be buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.  A memorial service will be held in Hancock this summer.

Memorials may be directed to Hancock Public Schools or the charity of your choice.
