Dollar Bay

Thomas J. Parrish, 69, a resident of Dollar Bay, passed away Thursday morning June 14, 2018, at UP-Health Portage following a short illness.

He was born on September 2, 1948, in Manistique, MI, a son of the late Wesley and Eleanor (Fox) Parrish. Tom was raised in Cooks, MI and had attended the Cooks, School.

Mr. Parrish then went to the Detroit area with his father to work road construction. He then moved to Escanaba where he began a career working for different subcontractors for AT&T installing underground lines. In 1991, he moved to Dollar Bay where he worked until his retirement from Apper Construction.

On July 30, 2009, he was united in marriage to the former Jeannie Paredes.

Tom enjoyed working on his backhoe and using it for different jobs like helping keep the neighborhood clean in the winter with it. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister Judy Demars and his brothers: Wesley, Earl, Mike and Bob.

His sons: Kyle Paredes of Houghton

Kevin (Kasey Willis) Paredes of Beaver Dam, WI

His granddaughters; Aleijha and Maya

His brothers and sisters:

Rick Parrish, Pat (Joe) Joseph, Vicky (Richard) Fox, Kathy (Blake) Smith, Prisilla (Paul) Brenner, Wanda (Dave) Rodgers, Mary (Don) LaVigne, Randy (Glenda) Parrish and Polly (Paul) Nedeau

A Prayer Service for Tom will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Friends may call on Saturday, June 30, 2018, from 1:00 PM until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.
