Obituary: Warren C. “Tik” Tikkanen

Warren Charles “Tik” Tikkanen, age 76 of L’Anse, MI passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 at UP Health System, Marquette, MI. He was born in Laurium, MI on August 5,1944 the son of the late Peter and Elsie (Paulson) Tikkanen. Tik graduated from L’Anse High School in 1962. He served in the National Guard during the Detroit Riots. On August 13, 1966 he married the former Helen “Sugar” Fish in L’Anse. Tik had worked for various construction companies over the years as a millwright and retired from Herman Gundlach in the late 1990’s. He was a member of Carpenter Millwright Union #1227. Tik enjoyed hunting, going to camp, fishing, trapping and making wood.

Tik is survived by his loving wife Sugar, sons Mike (Carrie) Tikkanen of L’Anse, Ryan (Brenda) Tikkanen of Kramer, North Dakota, daughters Carrie (Dennis) Majeski of Green Bay, Holly (Keith) Barnett of L’Anse and Kristen (Pat) Dove of L’Anse, grandchildren Tori (Shawn) Hrubesky, Kaitlin (Ben) Kantola, Heather (Brad) Tapani, Kelli (Mike) Johnson, Brittany Tikkanen, Brandon Dove, Josh (Maddie) Barnett, and Maddy and Kim Tikkanen, several great grandchildren, brother Norman (Gail) Tikkanen of L’Anse and sister Anita (John) Koski of Chassell. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Ron and Frederic Tikkanen.
