Obituary: Wayne Michael Carroll

Wayne Michael Carroll was born in 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died on September 6, 2018, in Winnemucca, Nevada.

His early years were spent in Austria and Japan where his father was stationed in the army.  He met his wife Jane at college at Illinois State University and taught at Lincoln-Way High School in New Lenox, Illinois, for 24 years. He was chair of the Social Science Department there. He earned a PhD from the University of Illinois and moved to Lewiston, Idaho, where he was a professor of education at Lewis-Clark State College. While there he developed a nationally recognized program in teacher education. Wayne founded the LCSC chapter of the education honorary Kappa Delta Pi. He taught there for 12 years before retiring and moving to L’Anse, Michigan.

Wayne is survived by his wife Jane; his son John and wife Tammy of L’Anse, Michigan; his son David and wife Carla of Bolingbrook, Illinois; and his son Charles and wife Ayasa of Stockton, California. Wayne has a twin sister Lynne Iverson who lives in Albany, Oregon. He has three grandchildren, Holly Wright, Ian Carroll, Vienna Carroll, and Shouei Carroll. He has a great granddaughter, Reece Wright. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Carroll, and an infant son, Robert Carroll.
