Pistons Win at Buzzer – Tuesday Sports Wrap

Andre Drummond’s tip-in of a Kentavious Caldwell-Pope miss with two seconds remaining lifted the Detroit Pistons to a 92-91 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks last night. Detroit had to come from behind a couple of times during the game. They trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half, but closed the gap by halftime. They were down by nine at the start of the fourth quarter, before Detroit’s final surge. Marcus Morris scored 21 for Detroit. Former Piston Khris Middleton led Milwaukee with 27. The Pistons host the Magic tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Anibal Sanchez faced the minimum 12 batters through four scoreless innings in his spring debut, but the Tigers wound up losing 4-3 to the Philadelphia Phillies. Relievers Justin Wilson and Blaine Hardy each gave up two runs. Each has a spring earned run average of well above 10.00. The Tigers face the Blue Jays this afternoon.

The latest group of players assigned to Detroit’s minor-league camp includes infielder JaCoby Jones and outfielder Mike Gerber. Pitcher Jose Valdez was optioned to Triple-A Toledo.

Half of the Milwaukee Brewers edged the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 yesterday. Starter Matt Garza gave up three runs over five innings. Prospects Yadiel Rivera and Jacob Nottingham homered in the bottom of the ninth to give Milwaukee the win. The other half of the Brewers lost to the Diamondbacks 3-2 yesterday. The Brewers face the Rockies today.
