Pistons Win; Pietila to NHL – Thursday Sports Wrap

The Detroit Pistons held the Orlando Magic to just 15 points in the fourth quarter, en route to a 118-102 victory last night. Andre Drummond scored 30, and grabbed 14 rebounds. The Pistons have won four in a row. With 10 games remaining, they’re a game ahead of the Bulls in the race for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot. They’ll host the Hornets tomorrow night.

NCAA
The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament resumes today with regional semifinals. Kansas plays Maryland, Villanova takes on Miami of Florida, Oregon meets Duke, and Texas A-and-M faces Oklahoma. Our coverage continues this evening on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Detroit Red Wings return home to face the Canadiens tonight.

Former Michigan Tech hockey star Blake Pietila has reached the National Hockey League. Pietila was called up by the New Jersey Devils to fill in for Tyler Kennedy, who is out with a lower body injury. He could make his debut tonight in New Jersey’s game against the Penguins.

Northern Michigan University has hired David Corrao as the football team’s defensive coordinator. Corrao spent the past eight seasons with the Miami Dolphins. He served as the team’s assistant linebacker coach for six seasons.
