Justin Verlander was almost as good, giving up a run on six hits before leaving with two outs in the seventh. Bruce Rondón gave up three runs in the eighth.

The Tigers conclude that series at Cleveland this evening. Michael Fulmer will start against Corey Kluber. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

Knebel

Clint Frazier’s three-run homer off Corey Knebel in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the New York Yankees to a 5-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday.  Milwaukee got off to a quick start when Domingo Santana blasted a three-run home run in the first inning. Brent Suter pitched six scoreless innings for the Brewers, and left after giving up two runs in the seventh.

The Brewers wrap up that set against the Yankees in New York this afternoon. Jimmy Nelson will pitch against Masahiro Tanaka.

Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun left yesterday’s game in the eighth inning with tightness in his left calf. That injury has been a nagging problem for mush of the season, but it is not believed to be serious.
