Defenseman Danny DeKeyser remains in the Red Wings’ organization, after no other team claimed him. DeKeyser was placed on waivers Monday, on his 32nd birthday, so the team could bring Jakub Vrana off the injured list. DeKeyser could now be assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

NFL

It looks as if Aaron Rodgers will stay with the Green Bay Packers. Yesterday, he announced on his Twitter account that he would be returning. He clarified, however, that the deal has not been finalized. There are reports that it will cover four years, at $200 million.

The Detroit Lions have inked wide receiver Josh Reynolds to a two-year contract extension.

Former Calumet High School and Michigan Tech defensive lineman Todd Storm has been promoted to assistant tight ends coach by the NFL’s Washington Commanders. Storm had been the Commanders’ offensive quality control coach for the past two seasons, after spending the previous two campaigns with the Carolina Panthers.

MLB

Negotiations on a new labor contract between Major League Baseball team owners and players continued into the early morning hours. Players have been locked out by the owners since the old contract expired December 1st. After canceling games in the first week of the regular season, Commissioner Rob Manfred had set a deadline of yesterday to reach a deal in which a modified schedule could still include all 162 games.
