The Finlandia softball team plays a doubleheader at Concordia-Wisconsin this afternoon.

NHL – Red Wings Host Bruins
The Detroit Red Wings host the Boston Bruins tonight. Face-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

NBA – Pistons Stung by Hornets
The Detroit Pistons suffered their most lopsided loss of the year last night, falling to the Charlotte Hornets 102-78. Jodie Meeks led Detroit with 15 points. Andre Drummond and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope were limited by early foul trouble. Spencer Dinwiddie missed the game with a sprained ankle. Reggie Jackson was held to nine points – he’s playing through illness, and turned an ankle early in the game.  The Pistons play at Chicago tomorrow night.

The Detroit Tigers gave up three runs in the first inning, and fell to the Astros 3-2 yesterday. The Tigers face the Yankees this afternoon. Reliever Angel Nesbitt will start, as the Tigers continue to look at bullpen prospects.

There may be a couple of open pitching spots on the opening-day roster. Reliever Bruce Rondon is battling a sore shoulder, which could keep him on the sideline. It’s looking more and more as if starter Justin Verlander might open the season on the disabled list, as he deals with a sore triceps muscle.

Kyle Lohse gave up seven runs over four innings, as the Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Chicago Cubs 11-7 yesterday. In his final spring training start, Lohse allowed three home runs. The Brewers will play the Padres this afternoon. Matt Garza will start.

Listen to the NCAA Division One Men’s Basketball Tournament semifinals Saturday on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
