MLB
Anibal Sanchez struggled again, as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 6-1 yesterday. Pressed back into the rotation because of injuries, Sanchez loaded the bases in the second inning, and gave up a two-run single to Josh Thole. He then surrendered a three run homer to Josh Donaldson in the fourth, which was his final inning.

The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Saint Louis Cardinals 5-1. Junior Guerra gave up single runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings, and suffered just his second loss of the season.

Both the Tigers and Brewers are off until Friday because of the All-Star break. The All-Star game will be played tomorrow night in San Diego. Miguel Cabrera is the only Detroit Tiger in the game this year, and Jonathan Lucroy is the sole Brewer.

International Frisbee Tournament
The Appleton Assassins won the International Frisbee Tournament in 2012, but had lost to the Boomtown Saints for the past three years. Apparently, they felt a change was in order. This year, they entered the IFT using the team name Expert Villagers. It worked. The Appleton players defeated Boomtown in two games to win the title, and earn the right to drink from the storied Nachazel Cup. Tanner Beckman of the Villagers took the Healy Family MVP Award. Bill “Igloo” Watt won the Jon Davis Spirit of Guts Award. ZB’s, made up of players from Marquette, Virginia, Texas, and downstate Michigan took third, with Marquette’s O’Malley’s Alley placing fourth.
