Auto Pro Wins Fast Pitch Tourney – Friday Sports Wrap

MLB
Michael Fulmer had a rare off game, as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Kansas City Royals 16-4 last night. Fulmer didn’t make it through the third inning. He gave up eight runs. The Tigers’ defense didn’t help, committing three errors as KC scored four times in the first inning. Chad Bell allowed four runs in the sixth, and Alex Wilson gave up four in the eighth.

The Tigers open a series at Minnesota tonight. Anibal Sanchez will start against Ervin Santana. Pregame coverage begins at 7:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Outfielder Jim Adduci rejoined the Tigers before last night’s game. He’s taking the roster spot created when J.D. Martinez was traded.

The Milwaukee Brewers suffered their fifth straight loss yesterday, falling to the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2. Jimmy Nelson gave up all four Pittsburgh runs over five innings.

The Brewers begin a series in Philadelphia tonight. Matt Garza will pitch against Aaron Nola.

Fast Pitch Softball
Auto Pro Glass and Tire won the Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball League tournament last night, with an 11-9 victory over Calumet Golf Club/Loading Zone II. Calumet Golf Club/Loading Zone II scored a single run in the top of the first. Auto Pro responded with four in the bottom of the inning, and led the rest of the way, as they claimed the Holly McCullah Memorial Trophy. Sarah Audette struck out six, and earned the win. Taylor Shepeard had a double and two singles for Auto Pro. Ellie Djerf had three singles and Kenzie Lapage had two doubles.

Twilight League
In Copper Country Twilight League baseball action last night…
– Dean Kangas-State Farm scored in the top of the seventh to force extra innings. Superior National Bank-Stanton came back with a run in the bottom of the eighth to claim a 5-4 victory.
– The result of the Wolverine-Orbit game against REL-Mohawk Technologies was not reported.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings and forward Tomáš Tatar presented their cases at his arbitration hearing yesterday. Tatar requested 5.3-million dollars for the upcoming season. The Wings offered 4.1-million dollars. The arbitrator can agree with one or the other, or pick a figure in between. The decision will be made by tomorrow.

NFL
Former Detroit Lions backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky has signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams.
