Farmer will stay with the club, and pitch out of the bullpen. Reliever Jose Valdez was sent down to Toledo to open a roster spot for Boyd.

Earlier yesterday, the Tigers released team president, CEO and general manager Dave Dombrowski from his contract. Dombrowski led the club for 14 seasons, which included four American League Central titles, and two World Series appearances. Longtime assistant Al Avila will succeed Dombrowski. Avila said he feels manager Brad Ausmus has been doing a good job, and will remain with the club at least through the end of the season.

Jimmy Nelson gave up just one run on three hits before leaving in the seventh inning, as the Milwaukee Brewers shut down the San Diego Padres 4-1 last night.

The Brewers continue that home series against the Padres tonight. Taylor Jungmann will pitch against Ian Kennedy.
