NHL – Red Wings’ Win Streak Ends
The Red Wings’ four-game winning streak ended last night with a 4-3 loss to the Panthers. Detroit opened the scoring with a Tomas Tatar power play tip-in early in the first period… but Carolina scored the next four goals to put the game away. The Wings host the Stars tomorrow night.

NBA – Pistons Drop 9th Straight
The Pistons’ losing streak has hit nine games, after they fell to the Lakers 106-96 last night. Josh Smith led Detroit with 18 points. The Pistons play at Boston tonight. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

MLB – Brewers Sign Kintzler
The Brewers avoided arbitration with reliever Brandon Kintzler yesterday. His salary will double to a little over a million dollars. As expected, Milwaukee also offered contracts to their two other arbitration-eligible players, Catcher Martin Maldonado and outfielder Gerardo Parra.

Also as expected, the Tigers tendered contracts to all four of their players eligible for arbitration. That group includes starting pitchers Rick Porcello and David Price, reliever Al Alburquerque and outfielder J.D. Martinez.

Former Tigers’ outfield Torii Hunter is heading home. Hunter has reportedly signed a one-year deal with the Twins… the team with which he spent his first 11 major league seasons.
