Baraga’s Osterman Leads CMC Volleyball All-Stars

Baraga’s Reide Osterman was named the Most Valuable Player for volleyball in the Copper Mountain Conference for the 2021 season. Results of the balloting were released this morning.

Ironwood’s Alaya Ruotsala was named Defensive Player of the Year. Jeffers was named Team of the Year, and Jets coach Rachel Sondgerath was honored as Coach of the Year.

Other local players named to this year’s CMC Elite team include Savannah Asiala from Jeffers, and Kendra Kangas from Dollar Bay-Tamarack City.

Joining them on the Copper Country Division First team are Cori Jahfetson from Baraga, Camaryn Crouch from Lake Linden-Hubbell, and Raena Kangas from Jeffers. Members of the Second Team include Sara Johnson, Allie Pietila and Hanna Larson from Jeffers, Maggie Gaunt from Dollar Bay-Tamarack City, Lynn Lauritsen from Baraga, and Abi Codere from Lake Linden-Hubbell. Honorable mention votes went to Kylie Michaelson and Lily Messer of Baraga, Saige Hietala from Chassell, and Brooke Banfield from Lake Linden-Hubbell.

The Porcupine Mountain Division all-stars include Makenna Uotila from Ontonagon and Brianna Schutz from Ewen-Trout Creek on the first team. Kiirsa Kolpack from Ontonagon and Kate Borseth from Ewen-Trout Creek earned second team honors.
