On tonight’s schedule…

– Jeffers visits Hancock. Pregame coverage will begin around 6:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.

The annual Andre Durocher Alumni Hockey Game has been scheduled for March 24th at Dee Stadium. The contest features former skaters from Houghton, Hancock and Jeffers. It raises money for the Andre Durocher Scholarship Fund, which supports local youth hockey. If you’d like to take part, use the contact information you’ll find on the fund’s Facebook Page.

MTU/NMU
Both Michigan Tech basketball teams host Ferris State tonight. The women’s contest tips off at 5:30, and the men’s at 7:30. The Tech women’s team is ranked 17th in this week’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division II poll. The Huskies are also ranked fourth in the first NCAA Midwest Region Poll.

Both Northern Michigan University squads entertain Lake Superior State tonight.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons broke their three-game losing streak with a 108-94 victory over the Atlanta Hawks last night. Detroit opened up a 30-point lead, only to see the Hawks cut the deficit to four late in the game. Ish Smith led Detroit with 22 points. The Pistons host the Boston Celtics tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings visit the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight. Pregame coverage begins at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

Olympics
Nick Baumgartner of Iron River made the finals of the snowboard cross event at the Olympics. He fell while trying to make up time on his final run, but still finished fourth – his best Olympic showing ever. Pierre Vaultier of France won the gold, as he did in 2014. Australia’s Jarryd Hughes took the silver, and Regino Hernández of Spain claimed the bronze medal.

MLB
The Milwaukee Brewers have signed a minor league deal with starting pitcher Wade Miley. Miley made the All-Star Team in 2012 when he was with the Diamondbacks, but has struggled since. He led the Majors in walks allowed last season, while pitching for the Orioles. Brewers pitchers and catchers will hit the field for the first time today in Arizona. Detroit Tigers pitchers and catchers worked out for the first time yesterday.

Our Finlandia University athletics coverage continues Saturday, as the Lions men’s basketball team entertains Lakeland University. The pregame show will start at 12:40 on 99.3 The Lift, and 993TheLift.com.
