Blue Bolt Boys Remain Unbeaten – Thursday Sports Wrap

High School
In high school boys basketball last night…
– Dollar Bay-Tamarack City remained unbeaten, with a 77-46 win over Hancock
– Ewen-Trout Creek defeated Chassell 77-44.

On the boys schedule tonight, Lake Linden-Hubbell plays at Houghton, in a game that was postponed from Tuesday.

In girls hoops last night…
– Houghton fell to Westwood 46-42 in overtime.
– Baraga got past Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 46-39.

On the girls schedule tonight…
– Hancock travels to Ontonagon.
– Calumet plays at Lake Linden-Hubbell.
– Dollar Bay-Tamarack City welcomes Ewen-Trout Creek.
– Jeffers welcomes L’Anse.

In high school hockey tonight…
– Houghton skates at Escanaba. Our coverage will begin around 6:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
– Calumet visits Marquette.
– Hancock travels to Kingsford, to make up the game that was postponed twice earlier this week.

Hockey week in Calumet is bringing a lot of activities to the Colosseum over the next several days. There will be bake sales at the games tomorrow and Saturday. There’s a youth open skating session tomorrow evening at 8:30, and a free youth skills competition Saturday evening at 6:30. The Hockey Week spaghetti dinner will be held Saturday between 3:00 and 7:00. Adults pay $8.00, and kids under age 12 pay $5.00. Tickets may be purchased in advance from Calumet Hockey Association parents, and will also be sold at the door. All proceeds support youth hockey in the Calumet area.

MTU/NMU
Both Michigan Tech basketball teams host Wayne State University tonight. The women’s contest tips off at 5:30, and the men’s at 7:30. The Tech women’s team is again ranked 17th in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division II national poll, and fourth in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Poll.

Both Northern Michigan University hoops teams entertain Davenport University tonight.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings host the Buffalo Sabres tonight. Pregame coverage begins at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons return from the NBA All-Star break tomorrow night, when they host the Boston Celtics. Tip-off will take place at 7:00 on 99.3 the Lift.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers open their preseason baseball campaign today with their annual exhibition match against Florida Southern University. Alex Wilson, who is hoping to move from the bullpen into the starting rotation, will start for Detroit.

Our Finlandia University athletics coverage continues this weekend at the American Collegiate Athletic Association women’s basketball tournament. Our broadcast of the top-seeded Lions’ semifinal game against Pine Manor will begin at 7:40 Saturday evening.
