Before yesterday’s game, the Tigers activated outfielder Derek Hill off the injured list, and designated first baseman Renato Núñez for assignment.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored five runs in the eighth inning, and outslugged the Washington Nationals 9-6 Saturday. Each team rapped out 11 hits. Christian Yelich broke out of his power slump with two home runs, including a massive grand slam in the eighth. He added a single, and drove in six runs.

The Brewers host the Nationals again this afternoon. Adrian Houser will pitch against Sean Nolin.

Milwaukee has added outfielder Tyrone Taylor to the injured list with an oblique strain. Pitcher Eric Yardley has been brought up.

The Packers conclude their exhibition schedule next Saturday at Buffalo.

The Detroit Lions’ late comeback fell short, as they dropped a 26-20 decision to the Pittsburgh Steelers. All of Detroit’s scoring came in the fourth quarter. David Blough completed 12 of 17 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown. The Lions wrap up their pre-season campaign Friday night at home against the Indianapolis Colts.
