In high school track yesterday, because of the bad weather, Houghton did not compete at the Superior Dome Invitational. Pickford won the boys meet, and Negaunee took the girls team title.

• The 76ers shut down the Nets 96-84. Philly leads that series 2-0.

• The Kings got past the Warriors 114-106. Sacramento is up 2-0 in that set.

The NHL playoffs began last night…

• The Hurricanes edged the Islanders 2-1.
• The Bruins downed the Panthers 3-1.

• The Kings slipped past the Oilers 4-3 in single overtime.

MLB

The Tigers’ game against the Guardians last night was postponed because of cold weather. It will be made up as part of a straight doubleheader this afternoon. Matthew Boyd will face Hunter Gaddis in the opener. Eduardo Rodiguez will start against Peyton Battenfield in the nightcap. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers grabbed an early lead, and cruised to a 7-3 victory over the Mariners last night. Corbin Burnes pitched into the sixth, and gave up two runs on three hits. Brice Turang homered.

The Brewers visit the Mariners again tonight. Colin Rae will start against Logan Gilbert.
