Gio Urshela’s two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning powered the Twins to a 5-3 victory over the Tigers last night. Tarik Skubal pitched five shutout innings, and had a 2-0 lead when he left the game with arm fatigue. Minnesota tied the game with two runs off Michael Fulmer in the eighth. Akil Baddoo put Detroit back on top with an RBI single in the top of the 10th. In the bottom of the 10th, Alex Lange gave up a game-tying RBI single to José Miranda, then surrendered the winning homer.

The Tigers visit the Twins again this evening. Matt Manning returns from the injured list to start against Chris Archer. Coverage begins at 7:20 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has traded outfielder Robbie Grossman to the Braves. In exchange, the Tigers get 20-year-old left-handed pitching prospect Kris Anglin. Grossman was in the final year of his contract. He turned in a good season last year, but struggled this season. Anglin was a 16th-round draft pick by Atlanta in 2021, and is still in rookie ball.

The Tigers designated centerfielder Derek Hill for assignment yesterday. If Hill clears waivers, he could return to Detroit on a minor league contract. He was set to become a free agent at the nd of this season. Detroit also optioned reliever Angel De Jesus back to Toledo. Wily Peralta is expected to be brought off the injured list tomorrow.

The Brewers had yesterday off, and open a series in Pittsburgh tonight. Corbin Burnes will start against Bryse Wilson.

Milwaukee traded All-Star closer Josh Hader to the Padres yesterday. In return, the Brewers get reliever Taylor Rogers, who had been San Diego’s closer until a couple of weeks ago. Milwaukee also gets right-hander Dinelson Lamet, outfielder Esteury Ruiz and pitching prospect Robert Gasser. Lamet is a veteran who has struggled this season. Ruiz has hit over .300 at both Double-A and Triple-A, and will be assigned to Nashville. Gasser was a second-round draft pick last year, and will be assigned to Biloxi.

The Crew also picked up reliever Matt Bush from the Rangers, in exchange for infielder Mike Mathias and pitcher Antoine Kelly.

More changes could be coming – the major league trade deadline is this afternoon.
