Brewers Win 9th Straight – Friday Sports Wrap

College Volleyball

The Finlandia University volleyball team has added a new recruit. Anna Navarro comes from Elgin, Texas, where she was a three-time MVP of her high school team.

NBA

In NBA tournament play last evening, the Bucks outscored the Hawks 123-112. Milwaukee leads the Eastern Conference final 3-2. Game six is set for tomorrow in Atlanta.

As expected, Milwaukee star Giannis Antetokounmpo missed last night’s contest, after suffering a hyperextended knee in Tuesday’s game. Officials continue to say that the knee suffered no structural damage, and his status for tomorrow night is yet to be determined.

NHL

The Stanley Cup championship series continues tonight, as the Canadiens host the Lightning. Tampa Bay leads the series 2-0.

MLB

The Detroit Tigers had yesterday off, and begin a home set against the Chicago White Sox tonight. Casey Mize will start against Lance Lynn. Coverage begins at 6:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers blasted the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-2 last night. Corbin Burnes pitched into the eighth, giving up a run on four hits.

Burnes left last night’s contest with some knee discomfort, but said afterward that he didn’t think it was serious. Kolton Wong also left the game after re-aggravating the left calf strain that forced him out of the previous four contests. He could be headed back to the injured list. After his unfortunate major league debut Wednesday, pitcher Aaron Ashby was sent back down to Nashville. Alec Bettinger was called back up. Pitcher Angel Perdomo was brought off the injured list, and assigned to Nashville.

The Brewers have won nine straight, and continue that series at Pittsburgh tonight. Adrian Houser will pitch against J.T. Brubaker.

The starters for the 2021 Major League Baseball All-Star Game have been revealed. There are no Detroit or Milwaukee players in the lineup. Former Tiger Nick Castellanos will be an outfield starter for the Nationals. He leads the league with a .346 batting average, and has hit 16 home runs. The full rosters will be announced Sunday. The All-Star Game will be played July 13th in Atlanta.
