Verlander

MLB
The Detroit Tigers’ slide continued last night, with a 7-5 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Justin Verlander carried a perfect game into the bottom of the sixth inning, and had a 4-0 lead, thanks to a home run by James McCann and a two-run single by Justin Upton. But, the Mariners broke through with three runs to chase Verlander from the game. They scored four more off Shane Greene in the seventh to put the game away.

The Tigers have lost 11 of their last 15 games, and wrap up that series at Seattle tonight. Daniel Norris will start against Andrew Moore. Pregame coverage will begin at 9:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Santana

The Milwaukee Brewers scored three runs in the seventh inning, and came from behind to edge the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 last night. Domingo Santana’s two-run homer was the big blow. Junior Guerra gave up three runs over six innings. Oliver Drake got the win in relief.

The Brewers conclude that home set against the Pirates this afternoon. Chase Anderson will pitch against Ivan Nova.

Milwaukee second baseman Jonathan Villar and outfielder Ryan Braun will start minor-league rehab assignments tonight. If things go well, both could be back with the Brewers early next week.
