High School
In girls high school basketball action last night…
– Calumet continued its unbeaten season with a 57-43 victory over Negaunee. Hailey Wickstrom and Clara Loukus each scored 14 points for Calumet. See video highlights here.
– Houghton fell to Marquette 62-53. See video highlights here.

In boys action last night…
– Lake Linden-Hubbell remained unbeaten with a 62-47 win over Republic-Michigamme. Arthur Lyons scored 24.
– Calumet got past Chassell 57-50.
– Houghton downed Jeffers 56-35.
– Ewen-Trout Creek defeated Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 59-50.

In high school hockey last night…
– Hancock took an early 2-0 lead, but Marquette came from behind to defeat the Bulldogs 3-2. Alex Nordstrom and Jack Fenton scored for Hancock.
– The result of Houghton’s game was not reported.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings host the Ottawa Senators tonight. Face-off is at 7:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons entertain the Denver Nuggets tonight.

The third annual Chili Chase for Charity will be held on the Tech Trails Saturday morning. Events include a 5k classic, 5k skate, 15k pursuit and 10k freestyle. The chili lunch is included with race registration, and costs $5.00 for non-racers. The Chili Chase is sponsored by the Houghton High School National Honor Society. Proceeds will be split between the Tech Trails and Simple Kindness for Youth (SKY), a non-profit that assists local school students in need. To get further details, and sign up online, click here.

Several local Guts Frisbee players will be on a team that will compete at the World Frisbee Disc Federation World Ultimate and Guts Championships in London in June. Will Blau and Al Nettell of Hancock, and Stephen Dudenas of Lake Linden will be members of Team USA 2. Blau has been named co-captain. The team will also include two players from Marquette and three from downstate. Money is being raised to help cover travel expenses.
