Calumet One, L&L Advance to Horseshoe Final – Tuesday Sports Wrap

MLB

The Detroit Tigers had yesterday off, and host the Seattle Mariners tonight. Matthew Boyd will start against Yusei Kikuchi. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift. 

The Milwaukee Brewers also had yesterday off, and will host the Minnesota Twins tonight. Chase Anderson will start against Martín Pérez.

Christian Yelich is expected to return to Milwaukee’s starting lineup tonight, after missing some time with back problems.

Burch Smith is no longer part of the Brewers organization. The reliever had been designated for assignment, and was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants.

Major League Baseball has released its 2020 season schedule. The Tigers will open March 26th at Cleveland, with their home opener March 30th against the Royals. The Brewers will host the Cubs for their season opener on March 26th.

Twilight League

The Copper Country Twilight League championship series opens tonight, as top seed REL-Mohawk Technologies faces third seed Dean Kangas-State Farm at the Hancock Driving Park. Our coverage will begin around 6:15 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. Game two of the best-of-three set will be played Thursday.

NBA

The schedule for the 2019-2020 NBA season has been released. The Detroit Pistons will open the regular campaign October 23rd on the road against the Pacers. Listen for select Pistons games again this season on 99.3 The Lift. See the full Detroit schedule here.

Horseshoes

Calumet One and L and L will meet for the Copper Country Horseshoe League tournament championship. In semifinal play last evening…
– Top seed Calumet One defeated fourth seed Harter’s Party Store 5-1.
– Third seed L and L upended second seed Dreamland One 7-2.

The tournament will conclude next Monday, with the championship match at the Drift Inn, and the consolation match at Rocky’s Bar.

Great Deer Chase

Volunteers are still needed to assist with Saturday’s Great Deer Chase mountain bike races at the Swedetown Trails. If you’d like to help, visit the Volunteer page at the Great Deer Chase website here.

Online sign up for race participants continues through Friday here. Onsite registration and bib pickup will take place at Cross Country Sports in Calumet Friday evening between 6:30 and 8:00, and Saturday morning between 8:00 and 10:00.
